We know that we have a high proportion of children who would benefit greatly from the use of a Sensory Room including children with Special Needs, those with learning difficulties and those who have suffered trauma or bereavement – which will only become even more relevant in light of the current global situation. We also have a number of children who suffer from serious medical conditions. These children spend quite a lot of time receiving treatment and therefore can miss some of their schooling. The installation of a Sensory Room will help these children to transition back into school, to relax and to carry out some of their therapies so that we can ensure that we are providing the best possible provision.
Research shows that having access to a Sensory Room and therefore Sensory Therapy provides children with opportunities for learning in a safe and stimulating environment and increases concentration and focuses attention. It provides an environment where children feel safe to explore and understand their feelings as well as helping to promote social interactions. The installation of a Sensory Room at Tower Hill would help to promote mental and physical well-being, something that we have always highly valued and something that we know needs to be a key focus and priority for us at this time. We know that on our return to school, ensuring the well-being of our children is going to be a priority.
We need £10,000 in order to transform our space into a bespoke Sensory Room to address the needs of all of our children. The Sensory Room would include a range of equipment to stimulate the senses including bubble lamps, infinity boards, light and sound projectors and soft matting. Once installed, the room would be available for our children to access throughout the school day.
We know that our school community would only benefit from the installation of this much-needed space and hope that with your support we will be able to make this dream a reality for our children.
On behalf of the children and staff at Tower Hill, we would like to thank you so much for your donations.
