We did it! A huge thank you to everyone who so generously contributed to our Bukuya Toilet Fund hitting our £1,500 target in record time.

As you may be already be aware St Martin's Primary School has a link to Bukuya School in Uganda. We are part of a group of ten church schools locally who, through the Whitchurch Deanery, are all linked with a different church school in the Mityana District in Uganda (West of Kampala). The links were established in 2006 and have developed over the last ten years. St Martin’s has been involved in many fund raising activities and has been able to provide substantial support to Bukuya School. There have been opportunities in the past for staff from our school to visit Bukuya School and occasionally the school has welcomed visitors from Uganda to the UK.

This link is not just about what we can do for our friends in Uganda. Our children really benefit from this global connection, learning about a very different culture, food, farming, social links and the value of giving and receiving – of being a good ‘global neighbour’. We hold a Uganda Day each year, to keep this awareness high.

Metal Windows

We are very keen to continue and build on this link with Bukuya School. So having successfully raised the funds for a new 4 hole latrine we are now setting our sights on providing metal windows for each classroom to prevent termites destroying the supporting woodwork of each classroom. We ALL want to help with the new target of £1,000 for the metal windows.

Thank you - your help and support is making a significant different to our friends at Buyuka School. Every donation is gratefully received and makes a huge difference!
