FOGS Laptop Appeal
Firstly, and most importantly, we hope that you are all keeping safe and well.
Globe School is an outstanding school with wonderful, fun loving, inquisitive and happy children who always try their best and behave well.
Like many schools, we are developing new ways of remote and blended learning and our pupils are coming to terms with learning in their own home environment.
Unfortunately, we are finding that there are many families within our community who simply are not in the position to buy laptops or tablets and some of our vulnerable pupils are falling behind in their learning because they just cannot access the resources available to them. We want our children to be successful citizens and to believe in and stand up for equality in all aspects of life. Therefore, we are continually striving to ensure that we nurture, challenge, and enable each and every one to be the absolute best that they can in all areas of life. We will fail in our mission if we allow them to fall behind due to limited access to online resources
This, in turn, is having a significant impact on their mental well being and will mean they will struggle to catch up when schools finally do return to normal. The effects could be devastating and long term.
FOGS (Friends of Globe School) need our community to come together now to help purchase laptops for our vulnerable pupils to enable them to study at home. Our aim is to provide every pupil with a laptop to ensure that they all have access to online learning during these difficult times.
The London Grid for Learning has secured 2 million laptops for schools to buy at a significantly reduced price and these can be delivered to our school for September.
£157 will buy one laptop.
Our aim is to provide every pupil within our school a laptop to ensure that they all have access to online learning if, or when, learning is disrupted by families having to isolate, or we end up in a local lock down situation. We need to be prepared for these possibilities and the first stage of being prepared is knowing that our children have the right device, know how to use it, have total access to it and that they are not trying to share a device between a large household.
Your donation will go directly towards the purchase of these new laptops, which we will loan to our vulnerable students during lockdown and as social distancing measures evolve. When we return to normal, the devices will continue to be used for home learning, to teach the computing curriculum, to support our most vulnerable pupils and replace any old, outdated equipment we currently have in school.
Please reach into your hearts and your wallets to help our school and our vulnerable pupils at this incredibly challenging time.
